A woman nurtures wounded hummingbirds amid the glamour of Hollywood in Sally Aitken’s (Playing with Sharks) miraculous, captivating tale of healing and transformation.
What does it mean to care for another, and what impact does caring have on us? In tending to these vividly beautiful, fragile yet resilient creatures, hummingbird expert Terry Masear (warm, engaging, eccentric) finds a way to recover from her past. Her diminutive patients, including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Alexa and Mikhail – brought into sharp focus through breathtakingly detailed slow-motion macro photography – become memorable protagonists as we celebrate their small victories and lament their tiny tragedies. In the compassion and empathy that Masear extends to her Lilliputian charges, we’re reminded that in the smallest of acts and in the tiniest of creatures, it is still possible to find grace.
