A student at a vocational school in Jeonju, Sohee (Kim Si-Eun) is initially excited to land an internship at a major internet provider’s call centre. But it turns out the company is a toxic nightmare, with Sohee and her colleagues tasked with reaching impossible targets and paid only a tiny wage. Stressed beyond belief, torn between anger and disappointment, she plunges into a downward spiral.
After a tragic incident, Detective Oh Yoo-jin (Bae Doona) is assigned to lead a criminal investigation into Sohee’s case and pieces together a picture of her gruelling experience. A gripping psychological thriller and a powerful study of systemic failings, Next Sohee exposes the harrowing effects of capitalism on the young and disenfranchised.
