Blue Monkey Network: Magical thinking, somatics and synaesthesia; building a transformative grief practice
Artist talk with Carrie Stanley
Studio 1 (Ground floor)
Thursday 17 October, 6.00pm to 8.00pm (talk 6.30pm to 7.30pm)
New Blue Monkey Network member Carrie Stanley has developed an individual, intuitive and often movement-based practice as a way of transforming the self through difficult personal experiences of loss. Working with oil paint, recycled fabrics, raw pigment and natural materials, she makes work that is directly responsive to memory both physical and mental. During this event, she will talk us through her processes; connection to colours and textures, dismissal of conventional boundaries and edges, the importance of drawing to life sized scale and in the moment, and the importance of being true to self.
You can find out more about Carrie’s practice via her website and Instagram
This talk is free for Blue Monkey Network members and £5 to non members. All welcome, tickets available on the door.
Supported by Towner Eastbourne, who host most of the events, Blue Monkey Network runs regular monthly events aimed at promoting the exchange of ideas, information, and knowledge between artists, curators, and arts organisations.
