Join Eleanor Clayton, curator of the exhibition Barbara Hepworth Art & Life and author of a new biography on the artist, in-conversation with Sara Cooper, Towner’s Head of Collections & Exhibitions.
The curators will discuss the development of Hepworth’s artistic practice and her engagement with music, dance and theatre, science and technology, and political and societal change.
The discussion will take place from 2.00pm to 2.45pm, after which there will be 15 minutes for an audience Q&A.
The event will be followed by a book signing and the publication will be available to buy in the afternoon for ticket holders at 20% off.
About Eleanor Clayton
Eleanor Clayton is Senior Curator at The Hepworth Wakefield and a specialist in British Modernism. In 2021 she curated the exhibition Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life which is touring to Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Tate St Ives, and Towner Eastbourne, and wrote the accompanying biography Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life, published by Thames & Hudson.

Sara Cooper is Head of Collections and Exhibitions at Towner Eastbourne, where she is responsible for the exhibition programme and for the permanent collection, including overseeing acquisitions.
