Lunchtime Conversation: Mapping Borders in Water
Thursday 7 November, 1.30pm, Galleries 2 & 3
Free, with ticket admission
In this lunchtime response session Dr Claudia Treacher will be responding to Naiza Khan’s 2023 film Mapping Water currently on display in Drawing the Unspeakable alongside two drawings from 2011 titled City Wrapped in a Web and Malignant Desire.
She will ask a series of questions about what it might mean for the artist to physically draw borders in watercolour on the page, and also about the fluidity of drawing borders in rivers, seas, and oceans.
How does mapping water change power? What is shown and who is hidden?
During the discussion you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your own thoughts.
This is a drop-in, free event for all.
