Quiet Time
Saturday 11 November, 5.15pm to 6.00pm
Quiet Time sessions are available during the Turner Prize exhibition at Towner every other Thursday and on one weekend day per month.
During these sessions, lower lighting will be turned up, while sounds and sensory stimulants are kept to a minimum.
Sensory bags are available to borrow from the Welcome Space on the ground floor, free of charge. Please return these at the end of your visit.
An access guide, designed by artist Anna Farley will also be available to support your visit.
These sessions are mainly for – but not limited to – children, young people and adults with autism; people with social, emotional, or mental health needs; adults living with dementia; and any other visitors with sensory needs or who may benefit from a calmer experience.
During Quiet Time:
Hand dryers in the toilets will be turned off
Allocated quiet rooms will be available, please speak to a member of staff if you require one
Ear defenders will be available to borrow
Signage encouraging all visitors and staff to contribute to a more calming environment
At 10.00, sounds will be switched back on, but visitors are welcome to remain in the exhibition for as long as they like
The buildings will be open to the wider public during our usual opening hours
The sessions are free and on a bookable, first-come, first served basis
