During this drawing walk with Liza Dimbleby, explore the medium as a way that we can navigate internal and external topographies.
We will make an unfolding sequence of drawings while we walk through Eastbourne, noticing the strange and the familiar, and thinking about how private and shared experiences can be held by the spaces around us and released through observing and drawing.
In the afternoon we will look at our drawings together in Studio 1 at Towner, building a more sustained piece.
We will also view and discuss the work of some of the artists in Drawing the Unspeakable who have drawn on themes of place, mapping and memory in their work. These include: Andrzej Jackowski, Ken Kiff, Leon Kossoff, David Bomberg, Michael Johnson, Andrea McLean, Timothy Hyman, Laura Footes, Geraint Ross Evans and Naiza Khan.
This day course is open to experienced artists and beginners alike. All materials will be provided.
Meeting point: Eastbourne Train Station at 10.00am. A member of Towner staff will hold up a sign for the group to gather around.
