Join us after hours on Saturday 16 July for a Summer Party celebrating the launch of our latest programme and the renovation of our ground floor. Our exhibitions will be open late for laid-back browsing while the foyer comes to life with a DJ and bar open until 10.00pm.
Please note: the gallery will be closed 5.00pm until 6.00pm for switchover.
On the night
First look! We’ll be celebrating the opening of Cruising the Collection, a free exhibition exploring queer narratives in the Towner Collection. The exhibition has been curated by members of Collectively, who worked on a podcast earlier this year.
Special discount. Summer Party guests will be offered a special discounted ticket of £6 to see our major exhibition A Life in Art: Lucy Wertheim.
New performance. The evening will also feature Tuning in a Vacuum, a performance work by artist and musician Rita Evans, who designs and makes her own sonic sculptures and instruments. Please note: this is a free event but advance booking is essential due to limited capacity. A repeat performance will take place on Sunday 17.
Across the weekend
Artist residency. Become an active researcher with artist duo Obscure Secure. Hayley Field and Jacqueline Utley will be working-in-residence in Towner’s Studio spaces, sharing their process as practice-based artist-researchers exploring the visibility of women artists.
Towner Cinema. Screenings continue throughout the weekend including Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War, the hugely anticipated documentary by Margy Kinmonth.
