Join us for an introduction to wood engraving, a printmaking technique practised by Eileen Mayo, an artist currently being exhibited at Towner, and Eric Ravilious – whose works you can currently see in Bringing to Light: Jananne Al-Ani curates the Towner Collection.
You'll draw inspiration from the two exhibitions and create your own wood engravings, learning about the history, techniques, tools and printmakers along the way.
Your tutor will be Emily Johns, a printmaker and painter based in Hastings, Sussex, and experienced wood engraving teacher.
Your first block of wood, tools and other materials such as inking slabs and paper will be provided, and you will be able to purchase additional wood blocks during the class.
Space has become available for the next two sessions of the course.
Please be aware that your booking payment includes both the August and September session.
