We are seeking a Curatorial Trainee who will be supported to develop a range of skills expected from the curatorial workforce today including subject expertise, working with living artists, collections care and exhibition making. Learning about audience engagement and widening access to culture will be a fundamental part of developing and enhancing these skills. The successful applicant will have a positive and flexible approach to work and a genuine interest in the visual arts, particularly in the programmes of iniva and Towner Eastbourne.
We consider diversity a strength and are working to make our Board, staff team and programming more representative of the different backgrounds and experiences that make up our communities. We acknowledge the multiple barriers that many communities face, and we work to remove these in our programmes and organisation. We expect all our employees to share this commitment and help us to achieve these goals.
We welcome applications from everyone who meets the requirements of the role. Given the particular focus of the Future Collect programme we particularly encourage applications from candidates of African, Asian or Middle Eastern descent, as these groups are under-represented in curatorial roles across the UK gallery sector as well as within Towner itself.
To apply, fill out the forms on our Jobs page by Monday 18 July (noon).
