Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (The Accused, Silence of the Lambs) brings comic timing, charisma and impeccable French to her César and Lumière Award-nominated performance in this playful mystery thriller, in which she stars alongside Daniel Auteuil, Virginie Efira and Mathieu Amalric.
When she learns of a former patient’s suicide, psychoanalyst Lilian Steiner (Foster) suspects foul play. Enlisting the help of her ex-husband-cum-sleuthing partner (Auteuil), their chaotic investigation takes them to unexpected places, causing Lillian to unravel (and sending her to her own analyst, played in cameo by celebrated documentarian Frederick Wiseman). Drawing on Alfred Hitchcock and Brian De Palma, Rebecca Zlotowski’s sleek, campy caper is as full of charm as its spiky protagonist, drawn with intense focus by Foster.
