Join Sussex Modernism artist Alexi Marshall and create your own tarot cards using the art of lino.
In this day course, you’ll learn the techniques and skills of reduction linocut printmaking using multiple layers of colour and go home with a deck of hand printed cards unlike any other.
Alexi will also talk about her art practice, the significance of tarot to East Sussex – the home of one of the most iconic tarot packs by the artist Pamela Colman Smith – and you’ll deepen your understanding of tarot, exploring symbology and archetypes.
The course will be restricted to 15 people. It is open to all with no previous experience of printing or tarot needed.
Technical skills you’ll learn include how to use different lino cutting blades to create a variety of marks, how to use rollers effectively to ink up your block and how to handprint your cards without a press.
Alexi will bring a range of esoteric books and tarot decks to get inspired, but please do feel free to bring your own material if you would like to.
All materials provided, along with ribbons to carry your packs home.
Teas, coffees and refreshments will be provided for a morning break. For lunch you could book into our delicious restaurant Light, visit one of the cafes near to Towner or bring a packed lunch to eat by the sea.
