Lollipop

A vivid and affecting social realist drama based on writer-director Daisy-May Hudson’s (Half-Way) own experiences, Lollipop follows a young mother desperate to regain custody of her kids.

When Molly (Posy Sterling) is released from prison after serving four months, she assumes she’ll soon be able to collect her young children from care. Instead, Molly finds herself in the mother of all catch-22s: she can’t get housing because she doesn’t have her children living with her; but she can’t get them back without a roof over her head. Joining forces with her old friend and fellow single mother Amina (Ahmed), Molly takes destiny into her own hands.

"Powerful… an impassioned, humane and urgently performed drama" ★★★★ The Guardian
