Enjoy an exclusive preview of paintings by Cliff Rowe before their display in Comrades in Art and learn about the ‘behind the scenes’ conservation work that goes into preparing works of art for exhibition.
You’ll hear from one of the exhibition curators Karen Taylor who will introduce you to Cliff Rowe, a founding member of the Artists’ International Association, while Sophie Reddington, an independent paintings conservator, treats the works on loan from the People’s History Museum.
Taking place live in Studio 1 conservator Sophie Reddington will be conserving the works over two days (Thursday 26 and Friday 27), during which you’ll have the opportunity to observe her techniques up close.
We have a budget available to make this event as accessible as possible – this can include interpretation services or other access needs we can meet to enable you to participate.
If you require access arrangements, please email programme@townereastbourne.org.uk two weeks before the event date so that we can book a service if needed.
As the Collections & Exhibitions Curator at Towner, Karen Taylor joins guest curator and author Andy Friend and Sara Cooper, Towner’s Head of Collections & Exhibitions to co-curate Comrades in Art: Artists Against Fascism, 7 May to 18 October 2026.
