From Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, Princess Mononoke (1997) is a powerful animated epic exploring the vital theme of human interventions onto nature.
The film follows young prince Ashitaka, cursed while defending his village from a demon god. His journey for a cure leads him to Iron Town, an industrial human settlement protected by fierce animal gods. Here, he encounters San, a human girl raised by wolves and called "Princess Mononoke" by the humans, who fights fiercely against Iron Town's leader, Lady Eboshi, for destroying the forest. Ashitaka finds himself caught in the middle, attempting to broker peace and coexistence between the two warring factions.
