The Feminist Art of Walking celebrates women who have transformed walking into powerful works of art and activism. It also shares fieldnotes from twenty years of creative wanders with psychogeographical collective The LRM (Loiterers Resistance Movement), and explores towns and cities across the UK – including Eastbourne where the author grew up.
The tour will start at 11am and last approximately 60 minutes. We will follow a route in the vicinity of Towner.
The pace will be slow with frequent stops to share stories, and some of those stops will include places to sit down.
We will then make our way back to the gallery when we will have an opportunity to have a chat, answer questions, and sign books.
Copies of The Feminist Art of Walking will be available to purchase from the Towner shop in the week leading up to the event, as well as at the event itself.
In case of extreme weather, the event will go ahead inside the gallery with a reading instead of a walk.

There are toilets at Towner, on each floor. Refreshments will be available to buy.
If you have any specific access needs or questions, please get in touch before the event and we will do our very best to accommodate you.
Morag Rose is a walking artist, activist and academic. She is founder of the Loiterers Resistance Movement and a senior lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Liverpool. Her work focuses on public space, regeneration, access, equality, psychogeographies and the power of creative, communal walking.
