In this two-day course led by artist Violeta Bravo, explore a range of creative techniques inspired by Tirzah Garwood’s wonderful marbled papers.
On the first day, we will learn the process of paper-marbling and implement techniques similar to those used by Garwood herself in the 1930s. We will also be drawing upon the ancient Japanese marbling technique of Suminagashi, to experiment further with the engaging method of transferring floating inks onto delicate papers.
The following day, once our marbled designs are dry and ready, we will be using these to try out different bookbinding techniques. By the end of the course, you will have crafted a bound book of your own marbled artworks to take home, either to keep for yourself or to gift to a loved one over the festive season.
All materials will be provided. Refreshments, including hot drinks and sweet treats, will also be provided on both days. Each 4-hour session will include a 30-minute break.
Please note: We are only taking bookings for both days of the workshop.
