Wriggle Room is Towner's free programme for under-5s and their caregivers on selected Tuesdays during termtime. Our fun and creative sessions are developed by our Lead Artist Tanvi Kant and Towner’s Learning team, building on a three-year early years’ partnership with Willingdon Trees Community Centre.
Wriggle Room encourages child-caregiver collaboration through crafting activities, story-time and sensory play. We create informal spaces for open-ended individual and collective making, play and story-time. Wriggle Room is also a social space where we encourage caregivers to meet and chat and under-5s to develop social skills.
Sessions are on selected Tuesdays during term time. You can see all upcoming dates on our For Families page.
Please note:
Caregivers are required to stay with their dependents for the duration of the session
We have a sensory space designed for younger babies and crawlers
Even if your little one's asleep we encourage you to pop in and say hello
This session takes place on site, on Towner's ground floor (Studio 1). Offsite sessions will be listed as such on our For Families page.
Towner has step-free access, spaces available for buggies, a baby-change and cafe on the ground floor.
Sessions are free. For any enquiries or access requirements, please contact mollie.howells@townereastbourne.org.uk
We also deliver Wriggle Room sessions on alternative dates at Willingdon Trees Community Centre in Hampden Park. See our What's On page for more details.
Tanvi is an interdisciplinary artist based in East Sussex. Her works span across textile jewellery, participatory installations, collage and sculpture, responding to materials through tactility, colour and construction.
She has over 15 years’ experience in delivering workshops with families and community groups within a variety of settings including galleries, museums, higher education, women's charities, public spaces, and residential care homes. Her aim is to demonstrate how readily available materials can be transformed with unashamedly simple techniques. She regularly works with the public and community groups, aiming to help people uncover their own visual and tactile stories through materials and to support intergenerational learning experiences.
