Lunchtime Response Session: Barbara Hepworth’s drawings and sketches
Thursday 20 July 2023, 1.30pm
Free for ticket holders*
This event is part of Lunchtime Responses: a series of events where we invite you to hear new perspectives, unique takes and personal stories about the varied works on display at the gallery.
Join Towner’s Alison Hayes for a look at Barbara Hepworth’s sketches and drawings.
By exploring the artistic freedom seen in Barbara Hepworth’s work and from discussing examples of sketches by other sculptors, we’ll think about the different ways drawing provides insight into artists’ practice.
Expect a small drawing activity, which you will be welcome to participate in if you would like, or you can just watch and listen.
Meet inside Gallery 2 on the top floor.
*Tickets must be purchased for the day that the event occurs
About Alison Hayes
Alison currently works at Towner and studied Fine Art Sculpture at Brighton University where she made objects, films and installation that reflected her fascination with light, space, the viewer and the blurred boundaries between different mediums and disciplines.
Recently she has made site specific work for Artwave festival and continues to find herself captivated and intrigued by collage, drawing and photography.
