Tide Tables
August 2025
Supported by the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) project, Towner delivered creative sessions for young people eligible for Free School Meals and families with additional support needs this summer. In a safe, supported, and creative environment, enjoy making and activities led by artist Daisy Stewart-Darling.
We explored multi-sensory routes into themes relating to the ecology of Sussex, food, social engagement and the familial and social bonds that develop through creativity, play and exploration.
Daisy designed and developed activities with a focus on enviromentally sustainable and recycled materials where possible, promoting interest in the natural enviroment around Eastbourne. All activities were developed with inclusivity in mind, young people could explore at their own pace, with no fixed outcomes or expectations. Caregivers and siblings were invited to attend to contribute to a relaxed space and explore materials resources to promote intergenerational creative confidence.
Daisy was supported in delivery by Towner's Learning team and artists with an interest and understanding in accessible practice, providing 1-1 support for young people where required.

About Daisy
Daisy Stewart-Darling (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in the UK, working primarily with sound and print. Her practice centres on accessible sound art installations that explore sound ecology in relation to climate justice, often blending field recordings, interactive formats, and community engagement.
Working under the pseudonym Daisy Does Lino, Daisy is a self-taught linocut printmaker whose visual work intersects with her sonic explorations. Recent projects have involved using linoleum both as a visual element and as a physical interface for sound, drawing attention to its ecological production and material history.
She has exhibited in multiple group shows at Electro Studios Project Space (2021-2024, St Leonards-on-Sea) and De La Warr Pavilion Lates (2023, Bexhill), and was selected for the 2024 Artist in Residence with The Living Coast UNESCO Biosphere in Brighton.
Alongside her installation practice, Daisy has run mindful printmaking workshops within her Hastings home community and composes experimental sound pieces from field recordings gathered during walks and nature explorations.
Tide Tables: Drop-in, 30 - 31 August
We're celebrated the creativity of our participants with an open studio to view our ever-growing cardboard reef and extended an invitation to create a creature to add to the installation.
Over the final weekend of the summer holidays, we're inviting the public to see what we'd been up to and use recycled, found and leftover materials, adding to our expanding ecosystem.
