Join us on Saturday 27 May 2023 to celebrate Towner’s 100th birthday party!
Throughout the day, you’ll find workshops and installations for all ages, the specially formed brass band South Coast Brass playing a piece responding to Barbara Hepworth by composer Liz Lane, free films in our cinema and the performance of a recent Towner Collection acquisition by Helen Cammock.
Into the evening our galleries will be open late for a first look at the new Barbara Hepworth exhibition. Centenary Celebration attendees will be offered a special discounted ticket of £6 to see the exhibition between 5.00pm and 8.00pm.
Also expect a celebratory cake cutting ceremony and speeches at 7.00pm and after DJ sets by the legendary duo Lemur Beats and DJ Soulprovyder.
Bars will be open until 10.00pm.

South Coast Brass: Rhythm of Light
Specially formed band South Coast Brass will perform Dr Liz Lane’s work inspired by Barbara Hepworth.

DJs Lemur Beats and DJ Soulprovyder
Lemur Beats are civil partners in crime Tain and Emma, who love to rock the party wherever that may be. They play an eclectic mix of party-starting tunes for your ears, minds, bodies and souls.
DJ Soulprovyder has been a purveyor and collector of 70’s soul jazz funk latin and rare groove since 1991. His current sets include a selection of past and present music with a flexibility of joining the dots and crossing over many musical genres.
