Fashion historian Professor Lou Taylor explores her mother's extraordinary life and unique art, followed by a Q&A with Head of Collections and Exhibitions at Towner, Sara Cooper.
Moving from Manchester to London’s East End in the 1920s, Binder was an illustrator and printmaker of rare achievement who made crucial connections for the Artist International Association. With a thirst for adventure and a unique comic sense, she presented the first TV fashion shows in the 1930s, crossed the Iron Curtain in the 1950s and travelled the world by tramp steamer in the 1960s.
The event will last approximately 1 hour. Please feel free to visit the exhibition afterwards - your ticket will grant you free entry.
